As I laid by the pool today and "people watched" (one of my favorite things to do), I was remined of one of my 1st grade students. She wrote me a letter towards the end of school expressing her thoughts and some difficutlty she was having. I saved it because it spoke to my heart. Here is an excerpt from her letter:
"Dear Mrs. Stanton,
You are the best person and teacher in the whole world becasue you are very and nice and you help when we need help. And you teach us when we need it. So when we have kids or become a teacher like you, we can teach them how you taught us. How do you love everyone in the class? Some are mean, happy and don't listen. How do you do that? How do you like that? Can you teach me how to love everyone?"
Can we truly love everyone? This child even realizes how hard it is to love. If only we were all so apt to want to learn how. You may lie to yourself and say "well, I don't hate anyone" but are you really being truthful? We may not hate, but we certainly do not love. Can you teach me how to love everyone?

What a precious reflection of our hearts in such a little one-the greatest commandment. It is so beautiful that she is able to see Jesus in you.
