the event was free and we were told only the first 500 would be able to get in to hear her speak. we had tickets 934 and 935. we didn't have much hope, but we decided to go early to stand in line to have her sign our old books and the new cookbooks we just bought.
an hour and half later...we were still in line.
but getting closer.
someone built her this delicious cake.
what she autographed inside for me.
after we met her and had her sign all our books, we headed back outside to try to wait in line to get in to hear her speak even though we weren't one of the 500. we didn't come all that way to not go down without a fight.
and in all our line waiting we met new friends and one of them just so happened to be the owner of the bookstore who was putting the event on. she gave us tickets to get in and we even got to sit in the front row! our day just got better.
ree was down to earth, so sweet and very funny. so coming from denver to wichita was very much worth it! plus we had a blast with nana and even got to stay with uncle t.j. and aunt tiffany too.
so thank you pioneer woman for your love of food.
i'm anxiously awaiting to try out your new recipes.
