Leftover Friday

We grabbed a picnic lunch yesterday and went hiking. Imogen was our guide and we ventured down two new trails. 

juno- "i am not having my birthday here."
mira-"i like the animal poop. it leads us to where we are going."

mira's first time to play "ticket to ride" and she beat us both. i've been wanting to get this game for awhile now, but it is a pricey one. Some friends of our let us borrow theirs and i think we've played it 20 times this week. to say we enjoy it is an understatement. this is the united states version, but they also have europe as well as many other countries. 

last weekend we found a typewriter at our neighbor's estate sale. i've been wanting to find one for the girls for awhile now. 

it really works, but i already need to get a new ink ribbon for it :)

our first time to really dig deep and do a lent unit study. we wrote a sin we have really been holding onto and then burned them for ash wednesday. it was heart breaking to hear what my homegirls were holding onto. we are forgiven. 

 i didn't take a picture, but after this we made beautiful crowns because He bestowed on us a crown of beauty instead of ashes. 

my giant lured me to his work and surprised me with a celiac friendly wedding cake. {because it is my favorite kind of cake and about the only thing that temps me into thinking a gluten attack would be worth it} but this is more that a cake, this is...it's been a hard couple of months, this is for the time together we didn't get, this is for all the tears of grief and sorrow, this is i love you forever.

our greasy giant is working and we will be enjoying the sunshine.
