life is never predictable

i was once told in college that i was a very predictable person and everything i do was just predictable. i'm not sure what she even meant by that, but i guarantee that life is not predictable.

on monday morning we woke up early and headed to tulsa, ok to drop off a van {that my giant has been working so long and hard on} to a newly single momma who was very appreciative.

when i discovered that we would be meeting in tulsa, i knew the pioneer woman's mercantile was only an hour from there. and after convincing my giant that we just had to go, we were off.
he waited in line an hour and 45 minutes for us to eat at her restaurant while the homegirls and i checked out everything in the store and bakery. even though i make some of her food, it was fun to taste the real stuff.

we made it to wichita, ks and were tired, but decided to continue on with the 5 more hours to nanaandpapas house for our staycation. i had taken over the driving responsibility and the afternoon fell into dusk. i had just got done saying we need to keep our eyes out for deer when i saw some on the side of the road.
i was able to slow down some and move over, but knew there was no going around him, i was going to hit the buck.
everything got very quiet and almost in slow motion, we slammed into him head on. all of the airbags went off as well as a lot of smoke, covering every window so we couldn't see out. the girls were panicking and after i stopped, rob jumped out of the car to see where we were.
right in the middle of the other lane with oncoming cars heading right for us. the doors wouldn't open so we climbed back to unbuckle girls and pull them out of the drivers side. the flashers were not working so we waved down the cars with our hands and the horn of the van.
they stopped and helped us call 911. we were in the middle of nowhere kansas.

a state trooper came eventually and was very helpful.

we were shaken up, but only by the grace of God that we were all able to walk away alive.
i am so very grateful.

we have both been in other deer accidents, but nothing like this.

there was a rodeo going on in the next small town and a sweet family stopped and brought us cold bottled water and a stuffed animal for each of the girls.

not exactly how we thought our staycation was going to go, but we knew it's all for His glory.

we've gotten to spend lots of time on the phone with insurance, hunting for a new vehicle, dentist appointments, play date with friends we haven't seen in forever, dinner and good conversation with friends on the back patio, great food (and a sweet friend even paid for our lunch!), coffee, cool weather and waking up next to my giant each morning. the homegirls love nanaandpapas house more than anywhere else in the world. we have so very much to be thankful for.
